A generous design that allows plenty of room for both swimming and entertaining.
This stunning geometric swimming pool, located in the beachside suburb of Hillarys in Western Australia, measures 12m long and 4.8m wide. The owners wanted a contemporary outdoor area and their pool needed to be the centrepiece of the whole backyard area.
The swimming pool was designed to be as large as the available space would allow while still providing room for several relaxing sun lounges and garden beds. The pool allows plenty of room for exercising and recreation as well as an uninterrupted lap swim. The pool’s entry steps were positioned so that swimmers are still under the alfresco roof when they enter the pool. Two gorgeous lion water feature statues stand either side of the entry steps, spouting streams of water into the swimming pool. These steps are surrounded by rendered piers that assist in supporting the undercover alfresco area and beyond.
The shell of the pool created the foundation for these undercover extensions. Instead of the usual straight steps most pools have, this pool’s second step is in a U shape, allowing swimmers to be in the pool as well as under the alfresco roof for socialising and relaxing. The pool was built with five underwater lights — three on the longer wall to one side of the steps, one on the second step and one on the shorter wall on the opposite side to the pool steps.
A Hurlcon MX300 Gas Heater keeps the water temperature at a suitable level for yearround use of the pool, while a Chemigem Chlorinator adjusts the pH and chlorine levels every three minutes, ensuring the pool is always in its best condition. The pool is finished in a vibrant blue concrete plaster and deep blue, iridescent mosaic tiles were used along the pools waterline for a stunning contrast to the lighter blue of the pool. The wall of the outdoor shower is tiled in the same mosaic tiles as the swimming pool to tie the entire space together. The pool and house blend seamlessly, giving a stunning modern look to the residence as a whole.
